ROLE SUMMARY:

The Manager, Business Development will be responsible for maximising income from strategic partnerships and grants income from corporates, foundations, government and institutions. The incumbent will work closely with Head- Business Development to deliver on Fund raising strategy in raising income from sources mentioned above, for ChildFund India’s programmes. This role will also be responsible to strengthen our positioning in government and leading development forums in Delhi and Mumbai
The incumbent will be expected to devote approximately 80% of his/her time on corporate fundraising, 20% towards government /institutional relations and engagement and about 10% for other aspects including administrative matters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in the development and implementation of fundraising strategy with clearly articulated targets
  • To develop plans & targets for raising financial resources from corporates, institutions & government agencies within the context of the overall fundraising strategy and business plan
  • To work with key internal stakeholders and teams to develop quality funding proposals
  • To research and identify prospects, develop relationships & nurture networks to build and maintain a pipeline of prospects
  • Organize and maintain up-to-date ChildFund materials for proposals, briefs and conceptnotes
  • To manage corporates and other donor accounts from the process of identifying the prospect till end line reporting and relation building for partnerships beyond the funding period
  • To keep up-to-date and accurate records of all prospective donors on internal portal, Salesforce for reporting, tracking and evaluation purposes
  • Lead liaising with relevant government departments for technical, financial and positioning collaborations
  • Build relationships with corporate network agencies, large foundations, bi-lateral and multilateral agencies
  • To attend meetings and events to collaborate, network and to strengthen organizational relationships
  • To demonstrate a willingness to take on a range of tasks and to develop new skills, as appropriate to support the work of ChildFund

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Post-graduation/graduation in Development Studies /Social Science/ MBA
  • Atleast five years of relevant experience including sound understanding of developmental /human rights /child rights programs
  • Knowledge of external environment (relevant to development sector including government bodies, donor institutions, forums etc.)
  • Knowledge of program frameworks and approaches
  • Ability to do multitasking, work under pressure and deliver quality results
  • Track record of securing large grants from corporate commitment and of sustaining a portfolio of corporate relationships

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Specialist – Secondary and Higher education is one of the key positions of ChildFund India to provide leadership to program designing and implementation. The responsibility includes project planning, designing, providing directions and guidance for implementation, regular progress review and documentation, budget control and management and donor reporting. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and managing the performance of her/his direct reportees, i.e. Project Leads/Program Officers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to provide technical leadership to ChildFund India’s programs in the education domain for life stage three of children. This includes working closely with the Child Fund International’s Technical Teams to develop standards, indicators, core guidance and effective practices; and implement those in projects supported by ChildFund India across the country
  • Develop and execute sound project management approaches that include having a national project portfolio, developing and managing partnership (field level as well as regional/national level), building field level staff capacity, providing timely technical support and feedback to the implementation team
  • Oversight of the development of a coherent learning agenda aligned with ChildFund’s theory of change including identifying key questions in the development arena related to child development
  • Promoting a culture of inquiry within the organization ensuring a plan to gather evidence, promote knowledge, execute applied research, and develop a cadre of professionals in the organization
  • Provide strategic leadership to the development of ChildFund India’s Life Stage-III programs for secondary and higher education
  • Design interventions aligning to the specific Life Stage strategies and pathways as well as with the education programming in the primary and elementary area to ensure smooth transition
  • Provide necessary guidance and inputs to the state/ zonal teams to design the project interventions and proposals
  • Lead Project Design development (PDD) and Annual Operating Plan and Budget (AOPB) process for all the thematic proposals in secondary and higher education domains engaging relevant Project Leads/ Project Coordinators of state/ zonal offices
  • Provide support to State/ zonal level staff as well as local partners in the development of project proposals (PDDs). This includes developing guidelines for proposal development, training to staff on the proposal development process and relevant tools
  • Help Fundraising unit in developing grant proposal design by providing technical inputs. Support in analyzing situation, deciding the strategy and developing the project log frame
  • Ensure all subsidy funded project activities are implemented on time and achieve project objected as per PDD
  • Conduct periodic project reviews together with M&E /KML team, implementation team and LPs to ensure high program quality standards for the interventions around secondary and higher education
  • Provide technical guidance to the grant implementation team (NSP, SSP, corporate funded projects) through regular technical reviews and feedbacks
  • Ensure ChildFund India take the leadership role in important networks relevant to child wellbeing and protection
  • Work towards establishing strong relationship with relevant government agencies - ministries, government departments, networks, commissions etc., which are critical for ChildFund India program implementation and their sustainability
  • Ensure state, /zonal teams explore and establish the same networking with agencies at state and district level as well
  • Work towards acquiring additional funds from government and corporate sector for secondary and higher education interventions and support grant acquisition team in meeting the annual targets
  • Conduct research studies with support of KML and Technical Teams on specific child poverty issues and situations for wider learning and sharing within the organization and relevant networks
  • Explore opportunities to conduct joint research with reputed government research agencies or private, NGO research agencies, share those findings with the decision makers, bring their attention to critical Child Poverty Issues, and influence them for finding better solutions
  • Ensure proper documentation of work around secondary and higher education
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager /supervisor from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Post Graduate in Social Sciences/Social Work /other relevant discipline
  • At least 5- 7 years of experience in management and execution of program interventions relating to secondary and higher education
  • Demonstrated success in the management and development of multi-location, multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building of staff and partners including training,mentoring and technical leadership
  • Familiarity with the donor landscape active in programming around secondary and higher education
  • Be gender sensitive with strong conviction and skills for the empowerment of excluded and disadvantaged children
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships with partners and donors
  • Knowledge of standards and effective practices across multiple disciplines for children and issues pertaining to youths and to set strategic direction

  • Ensure all the program interventions are planned, implemented and monitored with the active participation of women and community
  • Conduct the implementation and monitoring of all activities at field level, as laid out in the plan of action
  • Formation & facilitation with Poultry Farming Groups (PFG) and form a Poultry Producer Company (PPC) as an apex body for effective and efficient day to day operation and management
  • Enhance the skills and commitment of the Women Entrepreneurs for successful run of Poultry Producer Company

  • Develop and track the implementation plan with the support of Line Manager and Technical Team
  • Ensure implementation of the project with required field monitoring, landholding support to the community level staff and monthly reporting on the project accomplishments
  • Conduct regular field visits and use the observations to fine-tune the project activities
  • Enhance the skills and commitment of the Women Entrepreneurs to successfully run poultry Producer Company
  • Establish Producer Company with individual membership and building linkages for marketing, technical support, enhanced negotiation skills, and increased portfolio
  • Plan and conduct training and capacity building activities for the communities directly or through external consultants as required
  • Build associations and rapport in the community, especially for participation of children, youth and families in the program activities
  • Ensure submission of appropriate reports as per the agreed timeline, monitoring and tracking requirements are being met and established controls are in place
  • Collect, update and analyze information and generate reports for dissemination
  • Prepare monthly reports on project activities, training conducted with case studies and major outcome/ achievements
  • Fulfill any other responsibility as assigned by Line Manager from time to time
