Assam is facing one of the worst floods ever. Continued rainfall in the area of Brahmaputra, Barak and its tributaries since 1st week of July resulted in increase in the water levels of all the major rivers in the state causing floods. The spread of floods has become rapid affecting 30 out of 33 districts (91%) in Assam. More than 5 million people are affected and many have taken shelter in over 1000 designated relief camps operated by the government.

ChildFund India’s team is responding. Thousands of families and children are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance for shelter and hygiene items.  Children are in dire need of Educational material and support to recover from the trauma. Our effort is to bring normalcy back into the lives of these children.

ChildFund India is launching the humanitarian response in 30 villages in Barpeta district of Assam offering,

*Emergency relief support in the form of family relief kit comprising of hygiene items, mosquito nets, tarpaulins and floor mats.

*Education kits for children

*Psychosocial support to children through establishment of Child-Centred Spaces (CCS)

*Water Sanitation and Hygiene interventions
