Climate-related stresses such as floods, heat, water scarcity, and livelihood disruption increasingly affect how families live, work, and care for children. These pressures are felt most strongly at the community level, where access to preparedness, resources, and early support is often limited.
ChildFund India’s Child, Family and Community Resilience program strengthens everyday systems that help families and communities anticipate risks, adapt to changing conditions, and recover from climate- and disaster-related shocks in sustainable ways.
Communities and schools are supported with training, awareness, and tools that strengthen readiness for floods, cyclones, heatwaves, and other climate risks. Local preparedness planning helps families respond early and reduce disruption.
Smallholder farmers and households are supported to adopt integrated and climate-smart farming practices that protect food security and income under changing climate conditions.
Environmental restoration initiatives such as tree plantation, pond rejuvenation, and green cover development strengthen local ecosystems, water availability, and heat mitigation.
Schools and community institutions are supported with safety equipment, preparedness kits, and awareness activities to reduce risks for children during emergencies.
The program works with Panchayats, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and government departments to integrate resilience practices into local planning and service delivery.
