As children spend more time online for learning, play, and connection, gaps remain in awareness, guidance, and protection. Without the right support, children and families may find it difficult to navigate digital spaces safely and confidently.
ChildFund India’s work on child online safety focuses on helping children, caregivers, and systems build safer digital habits and responses. Under this focus area, the Web Safe & Wise program supports children to use the internet responsibly, while strengthening the ability of families, schools, communities, and government systems to recognise and respond to online risks.
Children and adolescents are supported to understand online risks, develop safe internet practices, and seek help when they feel uncomfortable or unsure.
Parents and caregivers are engaged through community-based sessions and home visits to help them better guide and support children’s digital use.
Teachers are trained through structured modules so online safety can be discussed confidently in classrooms and integrated into everyday learning.
Community workers, local leaders, and district officials are supported to recognise online safety concerns and respond through existing child protection mechanisms.
Partnerships with State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights and Departments of Women and Child Development help embed child online safety within state-level systems and responses.
